Several weeks ago, our little kommune decided to shut off all the street lights in town. No flashing lights, no walk lights, no street lights. Nothing. It was pitch black out.
I was starting to wonder if I had to pull out the English-Danish dictionary and figure out how to translate "miner hat with light".
And then, on the first of the month, let there be light!!! Perhaps the kommune's little experiment to save money was finally over...or someone complained (no, I didn't)...or someone broke an ankle walking on the uneven sidewalks in the pitch black evenings.
I'm not sure why the lights are back on, but I'm thrilled that they finally decided to turn them back on. If they are trying to save money, I would suggest leaving every third light on and turning other two off. Actually, I would be more than happy to consult with the kommune and give them all kinds of way to be more efficient.
Off for an evening walk, now that I can see my feet (and dodge the poop piles).

It sounds like something you would hear happening in Moldova, not Socialist Paradise Denmark. :/
